CAMBRIDGE — Colton Ehrke’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning scored Sam Mickelson for the walk-off run as the Cambridge Blues won 1-0 over the Footville Outlaws on Sunday at Utica Park.

With nobody out in the bottom of the 10th inning, Mickelson was placed on second base as Cambridge’s ‘ghost runner’ after recording the final out in the ninth inning.

Mickelson moved to third base on a bunt single from JT Parish. After Jared Marty walked to load the bases, Ehrke hit a fly ball to right field that was caught. However, it was deep enough to score Mickelson for the winning run.

Fans at Utica Park were treated to a pitcher’s duel. Footville’s Trevor Aasen and Cambridge’s Parish both pitched eight scoreless innings in no-decisions. Parish punched out eight and permitted just two hits, both singles.

In relief of Parish, Denver Evans earned the win with two innings pitched. With Footville inheriting a ‘ghost runner’ to start the 10th, Evans left men stranded at second and third by inducing a groundout to keep the shutout intact.

Cambridge (2-1) hosts McFarland next Sunday.
