    HTL: Cambridge pushes past Stoughton for fifth straight win

    STOUGHTON — Jared Marty pitched seven innings as the Cambridge Blues won their fifth straight game with a 7-2 win over the Stoughton Merchants on Sunday at Norse Park in Home Talent League action.

    Marty recorded five strikeouts in the win, allowing two unearned runs while limiting the Merchants to just four hits.

    Denver Evans pitched the last two innings in relief, recording one strikeout.

    The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Colton Ehrke scored on an error to give Cambridge a 1-0 lead.

    Ehrke padded the Blues’ lead in the seventh, hitting a two-run triple to score Evans and Marty. Ehrke later scored on a wild pitch in the inning.

    In the eighth, Evans scored on a wild pitch and Marty scored on a groundout from Tyler Kledzik. Evans also drove in Cade Hoiby on an RBI single in the ninth.

    Cambridge (5-1) faces Albion (3-3) next Sunday at 1 p.m. at Albion Park.
