CAMDEN, Ark. – A worker originally reported as missing during an explosion at the General Dynamics plant in Camden Wednesday has now been confirmed as dead, the company reported.

The identity of the employee who died is not being released by the company.

The explosion at the General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems facility left two other workers injured. One was treated in Camden while the second was airlifted to receive treatment at an out-of-state hospital.

Management with General Dynamics said they are continuing to work with authorities in Ouachita County as well as regulatory agencies investigating the explosion. The company also pledged to continue its internal investigations into the incident.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news that one of our employees has tragically lost their life in an incident at our Camden facility,” GD-OTS president Firat Gezen said. “Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased and injured individuals during this incredibly difficult time.”
