Delaware State Police Citizens Police Academy offers look at police work

Applications are open for the fall Delaware State Police Citizens Police Academy.

Beginning September 5, 2024, the academy will run nine two-hour sessions on Thursday nights, with the final session on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

Most meetings will be at Delaware State Police Troop 3, located at 3759 South State Street in Camden. Participants will have the opportunity to ride along with patrol troopers.

The academy offers a comprehensive look at police work, reflecting the experiences of the Delaware State Police. It includes classroom instruction on:

• Evidence processing
• Criminal and traffic investigations
• Tours of Delaware State Police facilities and museum
• A look at special units

To apply, visit the Citizens Police Academy website , download an application and email it to Nicholas.DeMalto@delaware.gov. Applications are being accepted from now until August 16, 2024. Class size is limited to 20 participants and background checks will be conducted on all applicants.
