CAMDEN — A city man found with his victim's blood on his sneakers has received a 65-year prison term for murder.

Corey Malloy, 45, must serve more than 55 years before parole eligibility, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

A jury convicted Malloy in April of killing Nathaniel Perry, 57, also of Camden.

The September 2019 murder followed a religious dispute between the men, the prosecutor's office said at the time of Perry's arrest.

Perry was found around 8:30 a.m. bleeding heavily from his head and in a pool of his own blood, according to the prosecutor's office.

Witnesses identified Malloy as the attacker. They said he punched Perry several times, then stomped on his head after the victim fell.

Malloy stopped the attack only after the witnesses intervened, police said.

Malloy was found later in the area "and his sneakers tested positive for the presence of Perry’s blood," the prosecutor's office said.

Perry was hospitalized, but died a few weeks later.
