Camden, NJ will kick off the Camden Peace Games, Saturday, as a part of the Connect the Lots initiative.

The Camden Peace Games is a two-day basketball tournament that not only invites friendly competition between neighbors, but rallies community organizations and non-profits to implement artistic, cultural and recreational activities.

Community leaders recognized how sports bring people together, and this event has grown from it.

“It become more than just basketball teams competing,” said Camden Mayor Vic Carstarphen. “It’s about the fellowship of community, working together-collaborating together of the partnerships that came about to make the Peace Games happen. It’s all about teamwork.”

At the games kick off, the city will offer free food, music and a bounce house.
