APSU raises over $12.6 million in 2024 fiscal year, topping national trend for 3 years
CLARKSVILLE, TN – Austin Peay State University received 6,094 gifts and pledges from 2,553 donors and achieved a fundraising total of over $12.6 million during the 2024 fiscal year. Over the last three years, APSU has had a 6.2% increase in its number of donors and a 39% increase in its number of gifts.
Two Suspects Hospitalized After Officer-Involved Shooting and Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle in Clarksville
Two suspects are currently under medical care following an officer-involved shooting during a pursuit concerning a stolen vehicle in Clarksville, as reported by WSMV. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy, who was uninjured in the incident, was investigating the said vehicle at the B&L Market when the altercation that led to gunfire ensued. Subsequently, the driver of the suspect vehicle engaged in a chase down Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and, as per statements obtained by Clarksville Now, no crashes occurred despite the initial pursuit.
Kentucky Motel Must Pay Over $2M After Man Fatally Suffers From 150-Degree Shower Burns
Econo Lodge Motel must pay the estate of Alex Chronis a total of $2.06 million after the 76-year-old man died after sustaining third-degree burns after shower at the motel. The estate originally filed the lawsuit in October 2022 in Kentucky’s Kenton County Circuit Court for $7 million in damages.

Robert’s Western World to Celebrate 25 Years With Block Party
On August 5th, Robert’s Western World, known as Nashville’s Home of Traditional Country Music, will celebrate its 25th year under the proprietorship of JesseLee Jones, the leader of its house band, Brazilbilly. Robert’s is taking over the stretch of Lower Broadway between Fourth and Fifth Avenues just outside of the venue for a block party. The festivities are free and will begin at 10:00 am CT, with bands and special guests performing until 11:00 pm CT between two stages. The lineup will be announced shortly.
