Milam County Commissioners set a 30-day notice for discussion on tax abatements with three different companies during a meeting on Monday.

They set a 30-day notice to begin the process of notice for the possibility of removing tax abatements for Cattlemen 1 (EDP Solar); and a 30-day notice to amend the Tax Abatement agreements with BT Jugman Solar and Gransolar Texas 1 (Pinegate) and the Yaupon Solar Project (Nextera).

“I talked to Connor (the attorney for Allison Bass) and he recommended that we do this with a 30-day notice on these,” County Judge Bill Whitmire said.

Whitmire said that the notices will notify the solar companies of damage done to roads during construction that needs to be fixed under the terms of their abatement agreements.

This topic will be taken up at the Aug. 26 meeting

In other business the commissioners: approved utility installations from Southwest Milam Water Supply at the intersection of CR 322 and CR 323; accepted the final plat of the Highland Branch Subdivision; tabled action on a new subdivision application; tabled donations from SB Energy; tabled taking action on the purchase of road groomers for Percint 1; approved the bond for Melissa Fritz; and heard a presentation by MRB Group on flood plan analysis for Milam County.
