    CCSO: 2 men arrested for possession of controlled substance, public intoxication

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Cameron County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men for possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

    At approximately 7:35 p.m. on July 24, deputies responded to the intersection of Avenida Rancho Viejo and Avenida Nina in Cameron Park, in reference to a call of suspicious subjects on the road.

    Deputies located the two men and when making contact, noticed both showed signs of intoxication and were under the influence of drugs.

    The two men were identified as Diego Armando Bernal and Jose Montoya Olvera, according to a release.

    A pat-down revealed Bernal was in possession of a clear plastic bag containing Alprazolam (Xanax) pills.

    Bernal stated the pills did not belong to him and that he was only holding them for his friend, Olvera.

    Bernal was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3.

    He was taken to Carrizales Rucker Detention Center for arraignment.

    Olvera was also arrested and charged with public intoxication.
