Local swimmers shine in 2024 Georgia Swimming State Competitions
Four athletes from the Southern Eagle Aquatics swim club team competed in the annual Georgia Swimming 14 and under Age Group State Championship meet, held July 19-21 at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. One athlete also competed in the Senior State Long Course Championship meet, held July 26-28 in Athens, GA. Together they represented Statesboro among the top swimmers from around the state of Georgia. ATLANTA — Lawyers for environmental groups made a final plea to Georgia energy regulators Thursday to delay Georgia Power’s plan to build three new “dual-fuel” turbines at Plant Yates near Newnan.
