(MA) When the temperatures are setting new records daily for how hot it is, you know what that means: It's time for Christmas in July! That's right, break out those metaphorical puffy coats and literal sunscreen to get ready to celebrate a favorite winter holiday in style. The largest zoo in New England invites you to come down this weekend on July 27th and 28th to celebrate Christmas in July with some true party animals.

What Will Christmas In July Feature?

According to Southwick's Zoo, Christmas in July will feature the following activities:

    • Winter-Themed Displays
    • Special Keeper Talks & Shows
    • Holiday Scavenger Hunt
    • Live Music
      • Performances by the Ice Queen
    • Photo Ops With Santa
    • Decorations & Holiday Cheer

Additionally, the zoo has offered a promo code "hohoho" to use when buying tickets online. This will give you 3$ off admission. This promotion runs now until July 28th.

Why Should You Go To Southwick's Zoo?

At over 200 acres, Southwick's Zoo is the largest zoological experience in all of New England. The zoo is home to over 850 animals, all living in highly naturalistic habitats. Some of the amazing animals you will be able to see include but are not limited to:

    • African lions
    • Bengal Tigers
    • Snow Leopards
    • Chimpanzees
    • Mandrills
    • Reticulated Giraffes
    • Two Toes Sloths
    • White Rhinoceros

As someone who has been to this zoo many times throughout my life, I can honestly say the exhibits are some of the best and most beautiful I have ever seen.

    More Than A Zoo

Southwick's Zoo is much more than just a place to see your favorite animals. It also offers a wide range of exciting attractions that are sure to fill you with delight. Some of these amazing amenities include:

    • Skyfari Sky Ride
    • Woodland Express Train
    • Soaring Eagle Zip Line
    • The Rainforest Adventure Maze
    • The EARTH Discovery Center
    • The Purple Peacock Gift Shop
    • Galliford's Restaurant & Tavern

In addition, there are several opportunities for hands-on experiences with the animals:

    • The petting zoo offers a chance to pet and feed the adorable herd of pygmy goats, who are small and very playful.
    • If you would like to be surrounded by and feed cute and colorful parakeets and cockatiels, the Parakeet Aviary is definitely something you do not want to skip.
    • By far, at least in my opinion, the most exciting attraction the zoo has to offer is the Deer Forest. Here you can get up close and personal with fallow deer, and even feed them! Furthermore, the 35-acre ecosystem features long winding walkways complete with a pond where you can catch a glimpse of turtles and frogs.
