Sweet Young Pup Stuck In Rescue For Over A Year While Sister Adopted Nine Months Ago

(MA) Meet the adorable and resilient Millie Mellow. This pup has truly been through more hardship than any pup deserves in a lifetime, let alone her short 16 months alive. Millie's rescue journey began when she, along with her sister Maggie, were found "wandering around someone's house and supposedly their former owner couldn't afford to feed them".

After learning this, Great Dog Rescue New England's rescue partner sent their "owner" some money to be used to feed the dogs until the drive to get them could be made a week later. Sadly, when the rescue partner arrived both Millie and Maggie were absolutely starving and it was assumed the former owner had not used the money to feed them. A picture of how skinny she became can be seen further in this article, but be warned that it is, at least in my opinion, very sad to look at.

Thankfully, both dogs made their way safely into rescue care where they received the proper care they needed to recover. Maggie has even gone on to find her furever home nine months ago. Millie however has now been waiting in rescue for over a year. Could YOU be the one to finally let her begin the next chapter of her life that she so rightly deserves?

    More Information On Millie Mellow

Millie is a 1-year-and-4-month-old Bull Terrier and Plott Hound mix pup who weighs, as of 9/12/24, approximately 48 pounds. She has a short coat length, which is brindle, white, and cream in color. Millie is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.

According to Great Dog Rescue New England, Millie, despite her hard past, is an incredibly sweet cuddle companion who is very loving. Though she can be shy at first, and for good reason, once you gain this girl's trust she will be your friend for life. Speaking to her softly and showing patience and love is the best way to earn said trust. Millie would do well in a home with other dogs and or children.

"She's a loving dog who's heart is as big as her spirit. Her soft whimpers and wagging tail tell a story of a pup who just wants to love and be loved. Adopting Millie isn't just about giving a dog a home, it's about welcoming a bundle of joy into your life. Her love is unconditional, her loyalty unwavering. Millie is waiting for a family to share her love with, could that be you?" - Great Dog Rescue New England / Petfinder

WARNING: The last photo shows Millie right at the start of coming into rescue care. She is very malnourished and emaciated in it.
