U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, in an interview Tuesday on the Fox Business show “Kudlow,” said most immigrants coming into the country are “garbage.”. Referring to Vice President Kamala Harris, who President Joe Biden said in 2021 would have special duties related to addressing the roots of immigration at the southern border, Tuberville overstated the number of people crossing the border.
Opelika officials search for woman wanted on fraud, theft activities at local store
OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - Opelika Police Department is looking for a woman responsible for allegedly stealing credit and debit cards at a local Target in Opelika. According to authorities, on Saturday, July 13. OPD began investigating a Fraudulent Use of a Credit/Debit Card and a Theft of Property, Second Degree. Around noon, officials say the suspect used stolen credit cards on several transactions and was seen on surveillance the local Target - 2640 Enterprise Dr. in Opelika.
Lee County deputies investigate late-night stabbing in Smiths Station
Lee County deputies are investigating a late Wednesday night stabbing that occurred just outside of Smiths Station city limits. Deputies responded to an assault call just before 11 P.M. CDT on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in the 1700 block of Lee Road 249 and found a 38-year-old male who had suffered stab wound.

Woman found dead Wednesday in Montgomery, police say
Montgomery police are conducting a death investigation following the shooting of a local woman. Police and fire medics went to the 200 block of Eastdale Road South about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a person shot, said Maj. Saba Coleman, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department. They found Kinah Stokes, 28, of Montgomery who had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died. ...
