A Kern County man has been handed a 17-month sentence for his role in distributing stolen explosives, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. On May 2023, Joseph Roy Vigneault, age 21, from Lake Isabella, sold approximately 350 pounds of the explosive called Hydromite 880 to an individual who was not licensed to handle such material.

USA: Borel Fire Continues to Grow Structures Destroyed Part 2
Bakersfield, United States - July 27, 2024 07/27/2024 08:30 pm (GMT-0800) | KERN COUNTY – The Borel Fire, which started on July 24 at 1:11 p.m., has burned over 38,000 acres. The fire continues to grow, destroying multiple homes and vehicles in the town of Havilah. Evacuation orders and road closures remain in effect. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze amid challenging conditions. Around 8:30 p.m., the Borel Fire began to affect the Walker Basin area, possibly damaging structures and homes near Sphinx Court and Caliente Bodfish Road. A firefighter KNN spoke with said they have been doing structure protection in this area all day. The extent of the damage is unknown. Video shows the destruction of property following July 26th when the fire swept through the historic town of Havilah.
