Campbell County, where Jellico, Tennessee, is located, ranks 90th of Tennessee’s 95 counties in health outcomes and has a poverty rate almost double the national average, so losing its health care cornerstone sent ripple effects through the region.
Lloyd competes at transplant games
Campbell County native Zach Lloyd recently traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the 2024 transplant games that were held from July 5 through July 10. “The transplant games are a biannual event that brings together thousands of people affected by transplant,” Lloyd said. “That could include recipients, donor families, and living donors. There are over 20 competitions to participate in. The event started in 1990.”
