CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) — A new animal rescue is helping a local police department with finding pets their forever homes.

The Campbell Cruelty and Humane Rescue was recently founded to help a city’s police force when they come across abused or neglected animals.

Campbell has seen a recent rise in animal abuse and neglect cases. The rescue’s founder Renee Habart says she felt it was her calling to help.

“There was such a need here in Campbell, and the way that the police department — the police here are incredible with helping the animals. I knew that there was going to be need for funding and for foster homes and volunteers, that’s why I started the group,” Habart said.

Habart thanks the mayor, police and council members for creating new ordinances to protect the animals. She says none of it would be possible without their support.

Anyone can help by donating items or money. More information can be found on the rescue’s Facebook page.
