West Nile Virus Cases Increases In North Texas
As summer continues, bugs and insects are becoming more active. But with the influx of mosquitos, the West Nile Virus is spreading in North Texas. Denton County recently reported the first positive human case of the West Nile Virus in 2024. According to Denton County Public Health, the community member lives in Sanger and was diagnosed with West Nile Virus Neuroinvasive Disease. So far this year, 25 mosquito traps used in Denton County to monitor the virus have tested positive. Greg Abbott announces over $95 million in housing tax credits across Texas

TRISD honors outstanding teachers and students at July board meeting
The Three Rivers Independent School District (ISD) board met on July 22 and began the meeting with recognitions of exemplary staff and students. Teachers at both the elementary and junior/senior high schools were praised for their exceptional results on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), and FCCLA students were recognized for outstanding achievements at the national competition.
Tragic series of accidents leave multiple dead, including man from Three Rivers
A series of tragic accidents in South Texas has left several people dead and others injured, with investigations ongoing by local authorities. On July 25 at approximately 2:36 a.m., a 2011 Dodge Dakota was traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy. 281, three miles northeast of George West, when it failed to stay in its lane and entered the center median. The vehicle, driven by 42-year-old Orlando Palacios of Three Rivers, vaulted over the crossover and rolled multiple times in the grassy median.
City of Yoakum to Hold Public Meeting on Abandoned Vehicles
