RG&E is asking Canandaigua residents to reduce their energy usage following Monday's storm.

On Facebook , the gas and electric company wrote, "Due to impacts from Monday’s severe storms we are asking customers on the west side of Canandaigua Lake from Butler Road extending north to reduce their energy use – turning off air conditioners and other non-essential appliances – until 9 p.m. tonight."

The statement said that the approximate 900 customers on the west side of Canandaigua Lake can resume their AC usage from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday. According to RG&E, this is a preventative measure due to extensive pole damage from the storm. The post states that if energy usage is not reduced, the company will have to create an outage that will disrupt service into Wednesday night.

According to the RG&E outage map, power restoration in the Lakeshore Drive and Eastern Boulevard area is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and may extend into Thursday morning.
