Feds commit another $1.5 billion for new I-5 bridge
Another grant of $1.49 billion will boost to $2.1 billion the federal commitment to a replacement for the Interstate 5 Bridge that spans the Columbia River between Portland and Vancouver, Wash. The announcement was made Friday, July 11, by the Oregon congressional delegation. The earlier announcement of $600 million was made seven months ago by the Washington congressional delegation. The money comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which has made this the currently largest bridge project in the nation. ...
Work on Canby's native plant sanctuary ramping up
With a little help from some friends, the native plant sanctuary at Canby Community Park has received a boost. According to David Kleinke, sanctuary chair, the Canby Community Enhancement Grants Project awarded a $3,500 grant to help develop the site. Additionally, the sanctuary has received funds from Canby Garden Club and Canby Kiwanis. Kleinke and his wife Karen moved to Canby from West Linn in 2022. ...

Colton Corner: Summer hoop camps abound
Greg and Teresa Adams have been hosting fundraising basketball camps for 25 years. The money raised each year at their camps has gone to support Colton Booster Club – about $130,000 over those 25 years.
