    Chicken barbecue ready to roll at St. James for July 4

    MOLALLA: The St. James annual chicken barbecue will be held July 4, at the church, 301 Frances St., Molalla

    The chicken dinner, which includes baked potato, coleslaw, roll, and a dessert will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a to-go booth running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A half-chicken to go is $9, while a full chicken meal is $15.

    Pancake feed will again kick off July 4 events in Canby

    CANBY: The annual July 4 Canby Historical Society pancake breakfast will be held July 4, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Knight Elementary School in Canby as part of the Canby Independence Day Celebration.

    Cost for the breakfast will be $12 for ages 11 and up, $8 for ages 6-10, and free for children ages 5-under.

    Giant Street Parade returns for another July 4 run

    MOLALLA: Molalla’s annual 4th of July Giant Street Parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on July 4. The Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Molalla will present this annual event.

    The parade begins at Molalla High School and travels through the downtown area of Molalla.

    Let’s run! Three distances available for July 4 racing

    ST. PAUL: The annual Independence Day half marathon, 5K or 10K will be held at Champoeg Park on July 4, at 8 a.m. Choose from three distances. The course runs on paved bike paths and park roads. Get ready to run or walk, eat great food, enjoy Rogue Brewery beer, and listen to some great music.

    Canby slates annual parade through downtown on July 4

    CANBY: The Canby Independence Day Celebration will be held the morning of July 4. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and should finish about 11 a.m. as it winds its way through the downtown area.

    Molalla’s annual pancake breakfast ready to serve up flavor

    MOLALLA: Open the July 4 festivities with a pancake breakfast put on by the Molalla VFW. This annual breakfast actually gets rolling at 10 p.m. on July 3 and rolls on until noon on July 4 at Long Park.

    The all-you-can-eat pancake feed features eggs (cooked to order), ham, coffee, milk and juice. Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for children.

    Chuckwagon Breakfast back on the July 4 menu

    WOODBURN: The annual Woodburn Chuckwagon Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, in Legion Park. The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, ham, coffee, milk and juice.

    Admission at the gate is $10 and children ages 12 and under are free. Credit cards are accepted, and donations are gladly welcomed.

    Annual Firecracker 5K set for run through Molalla on July 4

    MOLALLA: The Firecracker 5K will be held the morning of July 4 in Molalla. The race kicks off shortly before the Molalla Buckeroo Rodeo festivities kick in, with the course following the parade route through downtown Molalla.

    Molalla Nazarene offers parking, food carts, music for Buckeroo

    MOLALLA: Molalla Nazarene Church will offer its large grass area for parking for attendees of the Buckeroo on July 3-4. In addition, the church will offer several food carts from 1 to 10 p.m. each day.

    There will be live music with Kennon Tichrob on July 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. and DJ Linhart and Lindsay Kimmel on July 4 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m.

    Multiple food trucks will be on hand – Later Tater, Bobablastic, Big Boy Taco, Red Moon BBQ, RockNLatte, and The Feedshack.

    Parking is by donation with proceeds going to the children and youth funds.

    Living history re-enactment, more at Powerland Park

    BROOKS: There will be a living history re-enactment and vintage trailer rally at the Powerland Heritage Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7. The event includes “Night Fire” on July 4.

    This event is staged by the Northwest Civil War Council and includes flags of the Civil War, battles, artillery demonstrations, fashion shows and cavalry warmups in simulated Civil War scenarios.

    Admission is $15. Children under 12 are free.

    Music in the Park continues with Timothy James

    MOLALLA: Tuesday evening air will be filled with the sound of music coming from Molalla’s Fox Park in 2024.

    The Molalla Public Library returns with another edition of its Music in the Park program for the coming summer. The action runs every Tuesday through July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    The Friends of the Molalla Library will be selling beverages and Parks CPC will sell snacks.

    This summer’s shows will include:

    July 9 – Timothy James.

    July 16 – Trent Beaver.

    July 23 – Mark Seymour & Friends.

    July 30 – Portland Opera’s Opera ala Cart.

    ACT 2 opens summer music series at Woodburn Library

    WOODBURN: Music in the Park returns every Tuesday, beginning July 9 and running through Aug. 13. The action runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Woodburn Public Library, 280 Garfield St.

    There will be activities for children, as well as food vendors to enjoy

    This summer’s schedule includes:

    July 23 – Big Plans (blues/American roots)

    Canby Garden Club offering a free garden tour

    CANBY: The Canby Garden Club will hold a free garden tour as part of its regular July meeting on Tuesday, July 9, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

    Those interested are invited to meet at the first home, 24189 S. Skylane Drive.

    Guests will be able to walk the gardens and each host will offer a snack. Maps of the following three gardens will be available at the first stop.

    Community barbecue set for opening music night

    WOODBURN: The City of Woodburn will hold its annual community barbecue on Tuesday, July 9, at 6 p.m. in Liberty Square, 280 Garfield St.

    The event will coincide with the city’s Music in the Park series, featuring A.C.T. 2 on stage that evening.

    Teen programs abound in Molalla during July

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Public Library will offer a trio of teen programs in July. The programs will be on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and include watercolor painting (July 10 – may be at 1 p.m.), things that melt (July 17), and teen makerspace 2 (July 24).

    The program is for ages 10-18.

    Colony Museum slates ‘biergarten’ and event

    AURORA: The Aurora Colony Museum will host a mini biergarten on Thursday, July 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for an evening presentation with speaker David G. Lewis. He will discuss his new book, “Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley,” in the courtyard of the museum.

    Magician coming to Canby’s Wait Park on July 11

    CANBY: Magician Seth Howard will be at Canby’s Wait Park on Thursday, July 11, to work his wonders from 3 to 4 p.m. as part of Canby Public Library programming.

    Howard was fascinated by the art of magic from a young age. Today, he is a highly sought-after performer known for his creativity, skill and showmanship.

    Woodburn cheerleaders plan bake sale fundraising event

    WOODBURN: The Woodburn High School cheerleading team will hold its annual fundraising bake sale on Friday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Long Bros. Building Supply, 195 Birds Eye Ave., Woodburn.

    The team anticipates preparing tasty treats, and the sale is by cash donation only; there are no set sale prices. Donations will help build the program for the upcoming athletic season.

    Aurora slates living history activities during open day

    AURORA: The Aurora Colony Village will open on July 13 for a living history day. Craft and history will be alive and well for visitors to see, with blacksmiths, spinners, and weavers coming to live and work in the historic buildings at the Aurora Colony Museum.

    Canby ready to serve up ‘Slice’ of musical fun

    CANBY: This year’s Slice of Summer music series will feature four Sunday shows at the gazebo in Canby’s Wait Park. The shows will begin at 6 p.m. and feature a diverse selection of music.

    Performing this year will be:

    July 14 – Willamette Valley Big Band.

    July 28 – Elia Howard & the Greater Good.

    Aug. 11 – Bridgetown Get Down.

    Aug. 25 – The Band of Jesse James.

    Food and beverage vendors will be on hand. Attendees should bring their own chairs or a blanket as there is no seating at the park.

    Adults have painting opportunity with library event

    CANBY: The Canby Public Library will hold an Adult Art Café on Tuesday, July 16, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. in the library’s Willamette Room.

    Library program will offer hands-on sea journey

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Public Library will hold “Journey Under the Sea” on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Fox Park.

    Dive into an ocean of hands-on science fun while exploring Oregon’s underwater environments with this interactive program form the Museum of Natural and Cultural History.

    Tribute band festival adds third day of music

    CANBY: Harefest, “The Mother of All Tribute Festivals” will return with an extra day added. This year’s event will run Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20 at the fairgrounds in Canby.

    The event features camping spots available and three days, three stages, and 27 bands assuming the style and musical tributes to classic bands such as Journey, CCR, Alabama, STYX, Scorpions, and more.

    Repair Fair coming to Canby Public Library in July

    CANBY: There will be a Repair Fair in Canby on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Canby Public Library.

    The event brings skilled volunteers and people with broken items together. The event is for small home appliances, small electronics, and clean clothes and textiles

    Molalla Parks plans fundraising garage sale for play structure

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Parks CPC garage sale will be held July 25-27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 321 Chinook St. The group is now accepting gently used donations. To do so, contact Jody Newland at jnweland@cityofmolalla.com.

    Proceeds will go to replacing a play structure at Fox Park.

    Canby High class of 2004 sets class reunion date

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 2004 is planning its 20th class reunion with a “save the date” announcement for the Saturday, July 27, event at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.

    The reunion will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.

    Canby Fire slates its first-ever MDA golf tourney

    CANBY: The inaugural Canby Fire MDA Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, July 31, at Frontier Golf Course in Canby.

    Entry to the nine-hole scramble is $100 per person or $350 for a team of four. Fees include greens fees, event t-shirt and catered barbecue lunch. Deadline to enter is June 30. Pick up an entry form or information on sponsorships at the chamber office.

    Colony Days serving up two days of fun

    AURORA: Aurora Colony Days returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10. Aug. 9 will feature a biergarten from 4:30 to 10 p.m. with the music of Mark Seymour and Friends, beginning at 6 p.m.

    On Saturday, a pancake breakfast kicks things off at the American Legion Hall, followed by a fun run, the Market in the Park and the Outdoor Antiques Market downtown.

    City of Woodburn to keep dog park closed for now

    WOODBURN: The City of Woodburn has announced the closure of Centennial Park Dog Park will remain in effect until July 15. The closure is in place for construction activity, including a new shelter.

    Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby

    CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.

    The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by.
