Allegro Dance looking for community members for winter ballet

Allegro Dance Studio is looking for community members high school ages and older to audition to be a part of the 2024 performance of the annual winter ballet “The Nutcracker.”

Allegro is looking for volunteers to perform in the iconic opening “party scene” as party guests. Auditions will be held at Allegro Dance Studio, 655 SW 2nd Avenue, Canby, on Saturday Aug. 10, beginning at 10 a.m.

No dance experience is required, this is purely an acting role with no speaking necessary. Wear comfortable clothes at auditions as there will be basic dance taught to those who attend, as well as some group acting exercises.

Those who are cast will be expected to attend rehearsals prior to the performance dates. These rehearsals will generally be held on Saturdays in the mornings for about two hours at a time.

“The Nutcracker” is on stage for three performances at The Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center at Canby High School — Saturday Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22, at 1 and 5 p.m.
