    College Life: Area students earn honors

    Canby woman named to collegiate sportsmanship team

    Jennifer Torres-Bermudez, from Canby, a member of the Linfield University women’s cross country program this year, was named to the 2023-24 All-Northwest Conference Sportsmanship team.

    Torres-Bermudez was among 19 student-athletes from Linfield University selected for displaying good sportsmanship throughout the season. All nine member institutions elected one member from each sports team to be a member of the All-NWC Sportsmanship team.

    Torres-Bermudez is a nursing major at Linfield.

    Local students make president’s list at OIT

    A bevy of area students were recently named to the 2023-24 spring term president’s list at Oregon Institute of Technology.

    To be included on the president’s list, students much achieve a 3.70 grade point average or better during the term.

    Local students are:

    Canby: Halle Adair (respiratory care), Andrew Adams (EMT-paramedic), Theodore Mastrangelo (software engineering tech), Kaitlyn Mull (doctor of physical therapy), Joseph Travers (manufacturing engineering tech), Carly Weber (dental hygiene).

    Aurora: Beau Coffie (software engineer tech).

    Molalla: Danielle Davis (dental hygiene), Nate Gonzales (electrical engineering), Cameron Phillips (geomatics-option in surveying,

    Beavercreek: Brooke King (pre-medical imaging-general studies), Wesley Richelderfer (software engineering tech).

    Colton: Brooke O’Brien (mechanical engineering).

    Dean’s list at OIT has local names on it

    A group of area students were recently named to the 2023-24 spring term dean’s list at Oregon Institute of Technology.

    To be included on the dean’s list, students much achieve between a 3.30 and 3.69 grade point average during the term.

    Aurora: Zoya Hickman (vascular technology), Jesse Horn (mechanical engineering). Canby: Alexander Shibley (software engineering tech).

    Mulino: Carolyn Botsford (dental hygiene), Brody Herrera (health informatics), Kendall Rowe (information technology).

    Canby’s Lindsey earns degree from OIT

    Canby’s Taylor Lindsey recently graduate form Oregon Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering during commencement exercises in the spring.

    Hemsi-Walters earns way onto Tufts dean’s list

    Aurora’s Riley Hemsi-Walters was recently named to the Tufts University dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester.

    To make the dean’s list, students at Tufts must earn a 3.4 grade point average or better for the semester.

    Whisenhunt named to Wyoming president’s honor roll

    Woodburn’s Keith Whisenhunt has been named to the 2024 spring semester president’s honor roll at the University of Wyoming.

    To be eligible, students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken for letter grades.

    Locals earn way onto Linfield dean’s list

    Several local students earned their way onto the Linfield dean’s list for spring 2024. To make the dean’s list, students must earn at least a 3.65 grade point average while taking as least 12 graded credits.

    Those students are:

    Canby – Bryce Hatcher (sociology), Cydney Hess (accounting), Allison Mead (finance), Danielle Netter (psychology), Joshua Oakley (sports management), Noemi Sanchez (nursing), and Jennifer Torrez-Bermudez (nursing).

    Beavercreek – Emma Cortes (nursing).

    Molalla – Summer Eaves (creative writing), Kyla Lopez (psychology).

    Colton – Ty Norlin (nursing).

    Gomez makes dean’s list at Washington University

    Hubbard’s Matthew Gomez was recently named to the dean’s list for spring 2024 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Gomez is enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences.

    To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.
