Two dead after major head-on crash east of Sandy
Two people died in a three-car crash Sunday afternoon, July 21, about 10 miles east of Sandy after a teenage driver allegedly drifted into oncoming traffic. Oregon State Police responded at 1:45 p.m. to the Highway 26 crash, at milepost 32, near Cherryville. According to early investigations, a juvenile girl driving a Volkswagen Tiguan westbound entered the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons and struck an oncoming BMW 540. Air quality alert affecting Oregon Tuesday
On Monday at 11:54 a.m. an air quality alert was issued valid until Tuesday at noon for Baker, Harney and Malheur counties. "High concentration of smoke particulates from wildfire smoke," can be expected according to the weather service. "Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on weather. Bureau of Land Management issues fire restrictions for Northwest Oregon district
Fire restrictions are in effect for all Bureau of Land Management public lands throughout the Northwest Oregon District. BLM leaders encourage all visitors to be aware of active restrictions and closures as warmer, drier weather sets in around the Pacific Northwest.
