Giant pumpkin growers to host Ohio Valley pumpkin patch tour

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The annual Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers patch tour is this weekend where members can learn the secrets of growing large pumpkins and gardening in general.

The tour includes visits to four places growing pumpkins to see what’s working for them and learn how it could make your own growing better.

Only members of the group can join the tour but those interested can still sign up for membership.

“I like to say it’s gardening to the max. So if you can understand how to grow a giant pumpkin, you’re going to understand how to grow tomatoes, peppers, all the other garden things and additionally, your flowers because we bring a lot of science to it,” said member Tim Parks.

The benefit is learning, because education is key for growers.

“And once you understand the science of vegetable gardening, you know it becomes how you go and so you become quite enamored with it and it becomes a passion,” Parks said.
