CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Late Friday afternoon, a great celebration was held for a member of the Greatest Generation.

About 70 people showed up for Guy Damore’s 100th birthday party at the Tippecanoe Country Club.

“All my good friends here, who I’ve known for years, they’re fantastic, making a thing like this and inviting me. It’s great,” he said.

People came long and far for Guy. Loved ones made the trek from as far as Texas and Southern California, and as close as Canfield to make the party.

“That’s what it’s all about. Family and friends, and getting people together, and sharing memories while making new memories while we’re here,” said Jeff Doinoff, Guy’s nephew.

Since 1924, Guy’s seen a lot — from flying planes in the service during World War II to owning his own construction company.
