    Canisteo man sentenced on criminal contempt charges

    CANISTEO, N.Y. ( WETM ) – A Canisteo man has been sentenced on criminal contempt charges after he pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection in Schuyler County.

    According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, Charles H. Dorn, 40, was sentenced on July 25 by Hon. Matthew C. Hayden to serve two to four years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to criminal contempt charges on May 23, 2024, in Schuyler County Court. Dorn received the maximum term of imprisonment permitted for the charge since he is a second felony offender.

    Dorn was charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony, and criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. He admitted to violating an order of protection by harassing and threatening the protected person to whom the order was issued. A final order of protection for the victim was issued at the same time as Dorn’s sentencing.
