Cannon AFB Child Development Center deemed safe following chemical spill

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — The Child Daycare Center at Cannon Air Force Base was deemed safe Friday after officials said chemicals got into the center’s HVAC system Thursday.

CAFB officials said on Thursday that they received reports of an herbicide getting into the main HVAC system in the center.

Officials said children were evacuated and assessed by medical experts and no lasting sickness is expected in staff or kids.

The facility reopened Friday after HVAC filters were replaced in the system as a precaution said CAFB.
