Eugene Springfield Fire is battling a brush fire first seen near a homeless encampment on North Game Farm Road. Crews were dispatched to the site at 5:35 p.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames in the area, according to a release from the fire department. Demolition of Cascade Middle School now underway
EUGENE, Ore. – Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. The second-oldest building in Eugene’s Bethel School District is being reduced to dust. Demolition work is currently underway on Cascade Middle School, which was built in 1955, and a new school has been built to replace it. The new school, which was built right next door to the 69-year-old building, will be ready for students to move into it when they return in the fall, according to school district officials.
