Two people sustained minor injuries after a fire truck was hit by two cars on Interstate 575 in Canton Thursday, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office reports.

A Cherokee County fire truck was on its way to a crash on 575 at exit 16 at around 8:07 a.m. Thursday when it was hit by two vehicles, CSO spokesperson Patty Pan said.

Pan said two people were transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

All northbound lanes of 575 were closed at about 8:15 a.m., for about an hour.

It was raining Thursday morning, and Pan said weather is believed to be a factor in the multi-car crash.

    The crash remains under investigation.
