    Stark County weather forecast calls for rain, thunderstorms this week

    The Canton area is expected to see some rain throughout the first half of the week, with chances of showers and thunderstorms projected through Wednesday.

    According to the National Weather Service, today's chance of precipitation is 40%, with the high temperature projected to be 89 degrees.

    The possibility of a thunderstorm will carry into Tuesday and Wednesday, with the chance of precipitation increasing to 60% Tuesday before settling down to 30% Wednesday.

    Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 95. The chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are expected, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are expected, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday night, mainly before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

    Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are expected, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The low at night will be around 62.

    Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 77.
