    Ohio high school football I Top 10 Canton-area receivers to watch

    As we prepare for the start of the 2024 Ohio high school football season , we're breaking down the top players by position. Throughout the preseason, we're ranking the top 10 Greater Canton quarterbacks, running backs, receivers/tight ends, offensive linemen, defensive linemen, linebackers, defensive backs, specialists and two-way players.

    Today, we look at the top 10 receivers, starting with McKinley's Keith Quincy.

    Keith Quincy

    McKinley, Class of 2025

    What to know: Quincy is a talented all-round player for the defending Federal League champion Bulldogs. He led McKinley receivers with 51 catches for 970 yards and eight touchdowns last year. With six interceptions, including a pick-six, he also was a nemesis for opposing quarterbacks. Quincy has offers from Akron and Temple.

    Zach Braucher

    Hoover, Class of 2025

    What to know: Braucher is a talented three-sport athlete who excels at multiple positions for head coach Brian Baum's Vikings. Despite playing almost two full games at quarterback as an injury replacement, he still caught 57 passes for 897 yards and seven TDs last season. The second team All-Ohioan also led the Hoover defense with four interceptions and made 26 tackles.. Braucher caught two TD passes and made two interceptions in a win over rival Jackson .

    Jacques Carter

    Massillon, Class of 2025

    What to know: Carter is coming off a breakout 2023 season for the Division II state champions. In his first year as a starter, he caught 41 passes for a team-leading 796 yards and seven TDs. Carter had five 100-yard receiving games. He caught three passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns in a 56-7 win over GlenOak . Carter has offers from Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio), Ohio and Temple.

    Joey Jackson

    West Branch, Class of 2025

    What to know: Joey Jackson helped West Branch produce more than 3,500 yards passing and 41 touchdowns in 2023. He caught 74 passes for 1,024 yards in 14 TDs to earn second-team Division IV All-Ohio honors. Jackson is also a special teams threat. His 79-yard kickoff return for a TD in the fourth quarter was the difference in a playoff win over Streetsboro .

    Braylyn Toles

    Massillon, Class of 2025

    What to know: Toles is among a crop of talented receivers for the defending Division II state champion Tigers. He led Massillon with 46 catches last year, gaining 619 yards receiving and scoring eight TDs. Toles had eight receptions for 125 yards and two TD catches in the Tigers' first-round playoff win over Central Crossing.

    Antonio Martin

    Green, Class of 2025

    The Bulldogs hope to have Antonio Martin back for their opener. He continues to recover from a second torn ACL injury suffered during basketball season . Martin can play anywhere on offense. He had 63 catches for 660 yards and seven TDs in 2023. He is also was a second-team All-Ohio selection as a defensive back.

    Rodney Smith

    Malvern, Class of 2025

    What to know: An honorable mention All-Ohio selection, Rodney Smith helped lead Malvern to a nine-win regular season and the second round of the OHSAA Division VII playoffs in 2023. He caught 47 passes for 971 yards and 14 TDs. Smith had four receptions for 145 yards and three TDs in a win over Strasburg.

    Jeremiah Thomas

    West Branch, Class of 2026

    What to know: Jeremiah Thomas enjoyed a breakout sophomore season in 2023. He had 51 catches for 863 yards and six TDs for an offense that averaged 41.1 points a game. Thomas caught seven passes for 162 yards and one touchdown in a win over Alliance .

    Lukas Gilland

    Sandy Valley, Class of 2025

    What to know: A talented three-sport athlete, Lukas Gilland practically never leaves the field. He has more than 1,500 yards receiving and 20 TD catches over the last two seasons. He also was a second-team Division V All-Ohio selection as a defensive back in 2023. Gilland recently committed to play at Saint Francis (Pa.), an NCAA Division I FCS school.

    Noah Colando

    Jackson, Class of 2025

    What to know: Colando made an impact in Jackson's new spread offense last year. He caught 40 passes for 511 yards and four TDs to help lead the Polar Bears to the playoffs. As the team's top returning receiver, Colando could take on a bigger role this season. He is also a top player on Jackson's baseball team.
