OAKLAND -- The Sunol Regional Wilderness was evacuated as firefighters battled a wildfire that grew to almost 600 acres by Saturday morning, the Alameda County Fire Department said.The Creek Fire had grown to 595 acres as of 7:41 a.m. Saturday and was 5% contained.The Creek Fire began on Friday evening north of the Calaveras Reservoir in the Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve, near Welch Creek Road and Calaveras Road.The Preserve is closed while the fire response is under way, which includes air support.
