    HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Breanna Braham breaks D-Y school record at Indoor Track Championship

    The Division 5 Indoor Track and Field Championships took place on Wednesday as four Cape Cod teams (Dennis-Yarmouth, Mashpee, Nantucket, Sandwich) competed at Reggie Lewis Track in Boston.

    Dennis-Yarmouth

    For the girls, Breanna Braham placed first in the 55m (7.26) and 300m (40.08) finals, which were both personal records. Her time in the 300m was a new D-Y school record that had not been broken in 10 years (2014). Olivia Pendleton also had a top five finish as she placed fourth in the 2-mile with a personal record time of 11:55.85.

    In the girls 600m, Kerri Clark placed 16th with a personal record of 1:47.03, while Megan McDowell followed up in 23rd with a time of 1:48.75.

    The girls 4x200m relay team of Tiana Jacques, Braham, Rose Anna Joachim, and Deshwani Baker placed 8th with a season best time of 1:51.68, while the 4x800 relay team of Clark, McDowell, Evelyn Pendleton, and Bella Alexander finished 15th with a season best of 11:24.14.

    For the boys, Nick Terranova had the highest finish as he placed 12th in the 1000m (2:47.75), while Shemar Dillon placed 14th in the High Jump (5-06.00), and 17th in the Long Jump (18-08.75).

    Mashpee

    For the girls, Emily Curtin had a personal record time of 7.81 in the 55m preliminaries, and placed 17th in the Long Jump finals (14-05.50).

    For the boys, the 4x800 relay team placed 22nd with a season best time of 9:34.06. In the 600m, Tyler Theodore came in 32nd (1:35.85), while his running mate finished right behind him in 34th (1:36.86).

    Nantucket

    For the boys 55m prelims, Jaiden McInnis placed 31st with a time of 6.91, while Grace Hanlon placed 16th in the girls 1000m with a personal record time of 3:22.74.

    Sandwich

    In the girls 600m, Megan Chaney placed 18th (1:47.37), while Grace Chayna (1:50.56, p.r.) finished in 28th.

    For the boys, Peter Milburn came in 18th place (10:56.70, p.r.) in the 2-mile, while Christopher Klein finished 32nd in the 1000m (3:07.23).

    In other high school action:

    Boys Hockey

    Nauset 6, Nantucket 2 : The Warriors (15-1-1) found the key to success on beating the Whalers (15-2) as they snapped their 15-game win streak with a five-goal third period. Logan Poulin, Jake Eldredge, Logan Miller, Colin Ward, Sam Mayhew and Max Lanzetta each scored a goal for Nauset. Braden Knapp and Colby O'Keefe each scored for Nantucket.

    Upper Cape 6, GNBVT 6: Senior Ty Rebeiro recorded his 100th career point on a second-period goal for the Lions (4-13-1). Freshman Breydan Brennan recorded his first career hat trick for JPII.

    Girls Basketball

    St. John Paul II 61, Upper Cape 38: The Lions snapped the Rams 14-game win streak. Devin Crofford dropped 21 points, while Marlo Jumper and Katelyn Lawson each chipped in 14 points for JPII (15-6). Alaina Hines scored 20 points, while Adryanna Turner added 11 points for Upper Cape (15-3).

    Mashpee 51, Nantucket 33 : Hailey Garcia led the Falcons (7-10) with 16 points to the win over the Whalers (10-8). Ciara Hendricks dropped 12 points, and Mia Fougere contributed 10 points for Mashpee.

    Dennis-Yarmouth 68, New Heights 42 : Chloe Azoff finished with a team-high of 26 points for the Dolphins (13-4). Siena Lauze and Jaylene Pires each recorded 15 points, while Tess Hinds chipped in six points for D-Y.

    Boys Basketball

    Monomoy 61, Nantucket 50 : The Sharks (14-4) started the first quarter on a 17-0 and the second quarter on a 22-0 run in the win over the Whalers (11-9). Finn Hyora had 17 points and eight rebounds, while Jackson Rocco followed up with 16 points and eight rebounds for Monomoy.

    New Mission 71, Barnstable 60: The Red Hawks (13-5) snapped their five-game win streak. Evan Briggs (17 points), Kauan Desa (15 points), and Gabe Pichardo (12 points) led the way for Barnstable.

    Upper Cape 77, St. John Paul II 54 : The Rams (15-4) won their fifth-straight game as they beat the Lions (4-15). Chase Pierce finished with 20 points, while Damin Tavares added 18 points, 15 rebounds, and six blocks for Upper Cape. The Lions were led by Matt Curley with 18 points, while Brandon Gomes added 10 points and Leo DeSouza chipped in nine points.

    New Heights Charter 74, Dennis-Yarmouth 54 : The Dolphins (7-10) came up short on the road.
