Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the Boat Slip has Dog Tag Teas on Saturdays. Fridays are the Dog Tag Teas.

With the theme Renaissance X Revolution , Provincetown Carnival Week is here.

The tip of Cape Cod is expected to be packed with rainbows, feathers, big hair and plenty of costumes with nods to Marie Antoinette and Beyonce for the next week.

The 2024 Carnival runs from Aug. 17-24. In addition to the much-anticipated parade down Commercial Street Aug. 22 - no beads! - the week features pool parties, dance parties, drag queen shows, opportunities to dress up and a boat cruise, to name a few of the summer, celebratory things to do.

We will bring you an updated list of things to do each day of Carnival.

Here are some of the events planned for today:

Register for Feet over Front Street 5K Run and Walk

The run/walk benefitting the Provincetown Business Guild is Sunday, Aug. 18, but you can register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/MA/Provincetown/FeetOverFrontStreetCarnivalRunWalk . Registration ends at 8:20 a.m. Aug. 18.

Participants will meet at the Harbor Hotel at 698 Commercial St. between 7 and 8:15 a.m. Aug. 18. The course spans the length of Commercial Street (formerly Front Street) to the Provincetown Inn and includes the entire length of the MacMillian Pier, according to the Carnival website.

Strollers, dogs and costumes are welcome.

It's $55 to run and $35 to walk. More information and sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/MA/Provincetown/FeetOverFrontStreetCarnivalRunWalk .

Go kayaking or paddleboarding − or try yoga

Coyote Kayaks at 333R Commercial St., Unit 1, has several paddleboard and kayak excursions every day of Carnival, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rental options include bayside, the salt marsh eco-tour and "boy beach paddle."

The Yoga Joint , at the same address as Coyote Kayaks, has classes every morning.

See a show − or three

It looks like there are as many as 16 shows to see on Aug. 17 alone, from comedy to theater to music.

At 7 p.m., pick from "Edie: Queen of the Desert" at the Red Room or "The Comparable Dina Martina" at the Crown & Anchor. The "sensational drag experience" "Diva: This is your anthem - A Show of Empowerment" is at 7:30, starring Delta Miles, Roxy Pops and Qya Cristal, also at the Crown & Anchor. "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" will show at the Fishermen Hall at 7:30. A Freddy Mercury tribute starts at 9 p.m. at the Pilgrim House, while "Fruit Basket: Queer Comedy Showcase" goes on at the same time at the Crown & Anchor.

    Go dancing

The Boatslip Resort and Beach Club has a dance party every day of Carnival at 161 Commercial St. from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturdays don't appear to have a specific theme.

Also Saturdays is Topside with DJ Lizzy Pitch at the Underground Bar at 293 Commercial St. from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
