A large fuel spill in Wellfleet Harbor Sunday morning sent a handful of agencies into action, trying to mitigate the spill's spread.

A press release from the Wellfleet Fire Department had few details, but confirmed the spill happened around 9:30 a.m., and that Wellfleet and Truro fire departments, as well as the harbormaster , responded.

"Absorbent booms were deployed to contain and collect as much fuel as possible," the release, from Wellfleet Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Cappello, and posted on the department's Facebook page , said.

The size of the spill was not clear, but the release noted that spills over 10 gallons must be reported to the Department of Environmental Protection, Coast Guard, Wellfleet Shellfish Constable and Board of Health. The release ended by saying the harbormaster was "continuing to work with" DEP and the Coast Guard.

More information will be posted when it is available.
