Today is the Massachusetts primary election , where voters choose party candidates to run in the Nov. 5 general election.
In Barnstable County, voters will see these offices are on the primary ballot : U.S. senator, U.S. representative, Governor's Council member, s tate senator , state representative , Register of Deeds, Clerk of Courts and County Commissioner.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. statewide.
Early voting , which ran Aug. 24 to Aug. 30, means some Massachusetts residents already cast their votes before today.
As of last Thursday, 464,773 ballots had been cast for the state primary statewide, according to the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, an 9.2% voter turnout as of that time. Of the ballots cast, 380,310 were Democratic, 81,475 were Republican and 2,988 were Libertarian.
