A fumble recovery touchdown and more: Vote for the Cape Cod Football Player of the Week

Welcome to our latest Cape Cod and Islands High School Player of the Week Poll.

High school sports fans can vote for which football players they think were standouts during the previous week.

The polls will be open from Monday through Sunday. The winners will be announced every Monday along with the new poll. Votes are unlimited.

Rules of the Road

Votes must be cast via the Cape Cod Times website/mobile sites. Votes submitted via email and social media will NOT be accepted. To vote for this week’s Player of the Week, scroll down on this page.

Last week's winner

Karon Ford, Barnstable

Ford became the first Red Hawk to win the poll this season with 49% of the votes. He had 90 yards on the ground and two touchdowns in a victory over Amherst-Pelham.

This week's candidates

Jayden Barber, Dennis-Yarmouth

Barber completed 16-of-32 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown, and rushed for another in a loss to Barnstable.

Tre'Chaun Days, Falmouth

Days had three total touchdowns (two passing and one rushing) in a loss to Durfee.

Kayden Fortes, Barnstable

Fortes caught two passes for 93 yards, which included an 81-yard touchdown, in a 14-12 win over Dennis-Yarmouth.

Jack Kalkus, St. John Paul II

Kalkus rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown, and also threw a 28-yard touchdown to Wesley Sullivan, in a 24-16 win over Southbridge.

Phillip Oliver, St. John Paul II

Oliver had a 26-yard fumble return for a touchdown in a victory over Southbridge.

Ben Squarcia, Mashpee

Squarcia scored a rushing touchdown for the Falcons, and threw the winning touchdown on a halfback pass to Maxx Smith with 1:22 left in the game.
