Cape Coral, FL - A routine traffic stop early Saturday morning turned into a multiple-arrest situation after officers discovered drugs and outstanding warrants connected to the vehicle’s occupants.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, an officer pulled over a red motorcycle for erratic driving shortly after 3:00 am on Del Prado Boulevard South.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old David Hunter Gill, initially provided false information about his identity and license status.

Further investigation revealed that Gill had a suspended driver’s license, lacked the proper motorcycle endorsement, and faced three outstanding warrants – one from Lee County, another from Sarasota County, and a third from Mississippi.

The passenger on the motorcycle, 47-year-old Jamie Lynn Rutland, was also found to have six warrants out of Lee County.

A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia and substances that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Prescription pills found in the motorcycle’s possession belonged to someone other than either Gill or Rutland.

Both Gill and Rutland were arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail.

Gill faces a multitude of charges including providing false information to law enforcement, driving offenses, drug possession, and outstanding warrants.

Rutland is charged with failing to appear in court, drug possession, and possession of a controlled substance prescribed to another person.
