Officers swarm Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City due to apparent threat
Portions of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City were briefly evacuated Thursday evening due to an apparent threat.Police say an unidentified man claimed he was inside the casino with firearms and explosives.Officers swarmed the casino and evacuated a portion of the property.Large police presence seen outside Borgata in Atlantic CityChopper 6 was overhead just before 5:30 p.m. where more than a dozen police cruisers were stationed outside.Drivers were prevented from entering the casino as police investigated.Police say no suspicious individuals or devices were located. The validity of this threat is still under investigation.Patrons have since been allowed back into the building and officers have cleared the scene.Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Atlantic City police.
Lavallette hosts annual Memorial Lifeguard Tournament
LAVALLETTE — For two evenings this week, crowds packed New Brunswick Avenue beach as they spectated Lavallette Beach Patrol’s annual Lavallette Memorial Lifeguard Tournament. Despite a lingering heat wave, the two-night event drew hundreds to the hot beach, where members of various area beach patrols showed off their teamwork and lifesaving skills in both the women’s tournament on Monday and the men’s/open tournament on Tuesday.
