Circleville Announces DUI Checkpoint on Lancaster Pike

    2024-05-10

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Circleville Police Department and the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, has scheduled an OVI checkpoint. The checkpoint will be held May 11th, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Lancaster Pike within Circleville. This initiative is part of a federally funded effort aimed at deterring impaired driving and enhancing road safety by removing intoxicated drivers.

In addition to the checkpoint, law enforcement will conduct saturation patrols to address the rise in alcohol-related accidents, which have led to injuries and fatalities. Authorities urge those planning to drink to arrange a sober driver or alternative transportation in advance.

According to drugabusestatistics.org, there were 294 alcohol-related driving deaths last year, of which 24 were underage.

harassing every driver that comes through town isn't ok in my opinion cops are supposed to serve and protect instead they just harass and extort if they really wanted to stop drunk drivers they would post outside of bars and stop people before they end up in their vehicle and make them get an uber or the cops give them a ride but they couldn't make any money actually protecting people
