On Saturday, June 1, 2024, at approximately 6:06 PM, officers were leaving the Bellefontaine Police Department when they observed a male, identified as Wesley Bickle, lying on the ground at the end of the department driveway. Recognizing him,the officers approached and immediately noted signs of intoxication, including a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and unsteady movements.

According to police reports, when asked if he was okay, Wesley stated that he was trying to get home. Upon questioning how he planned to get there, Wesley responded ambiguously, indicating he was seeking assistance. When asked about his alcohol consumption, he admitted to having "a few." The officers also noticed a scrape on Wesley's elbow, which he attributed to a fall.

Unable to contact anyone to care for him, the officers placed Bickle under arrest for Public Intoxication. Bickle was searched and found in possession of three open containers, which were disposed of. Wesley was then transported to the Logan County Jail.

Surveillance footage from outside the police department showed Wesley walking with his bike, falling over it, before moving to the side of the road. The bike was taken into police property for safekeeping.
