A 54-year-old woman, recently relocated from New Mexico to Hawai'i, was found floating unconscious off the coast. The harrowing scene unfolded around 5:54 p.m. on the 75-5600 block where bystanders, seen responding with a haste that belied the usual serenity of island life, managed to retrieve her from the water and immediately commenced CPR.
Negligent Homicide Investigation Underway Following North Kona Pedestrian Fatality
Hawai’i Island police launched a negligent homicide investigation following the death of a 38-year-old male pedestrian who died in a single-vehicle collision in North Kona. Yesterday morning, police determined that a green 2015 Subaru Forester was traveling northbound on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway south of the Kaloko/Honokōhau intersection, when it crossed over the white fog line and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, who has not been positively identified pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Kona Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
