Road in Jim Thorpe to be closed as UGI installs gas main
JIM THORPE, Pa. - A road in a Carbon County borough will be closed as UGI works on installing a gas main. Tentatively starting Wednesday, Race Street in Jim Thorpe will be closed for thru traffic from Broadway to Susquehanna Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a news release from the borough.

Carbon County Controller John R. Williams of Lehighton has announced the appointment of a new auditor in his office at the courthouse in Jim Thorpe. He is Leonard J. Alabovitz, a Democrat from Summit Hill, who previously served the county as director of the Tax Claim Bureau and Recorder of Deeds offices. Alabovitz is also the mayor of his hometown.
