CARBON HILL, Ill. — A Grundy County man who was out on pre-trial release on domestic battery charges was taken back into custody on Thursday for allegedly beating his 9-month-old son.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, 22-year-old Christopher Cruickshank has been charged with aggravated domestic battery and endangering the life of a child.

Deputies say the charges were handed down after a report was made at the sheriff’s office around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday by a woman who provided police video evidence that allegedly captured Cruickshank beating their 9-month-old son inside a home in the 600 block of West Judson Street, in Carbon Hill, on three separate occasions.

Authorities said at the time the video was taken, the child was allegedly in Cruickshank’s care, as he had visitation rights with the child.
