Gents top Vail in home opener
The Gentlemen of Aspen rugby team opened the home 2024 season at Wagner Park with a bang on Saturday, taking two big wins over rival Vail. The Gents got a win in the Rocky Mountain Rugby league standings first with a 56-22 win, then successfully reestablished the club’s B-side with a reported 50-26 win. Vail hung with the red and black early, but once Aspen got in a rhythm — and started working downhill in the second half — the Gents easily continued a win streak that, according to club staff, has dated back to 2018.
Man and officer injured in shootout in Fort Collins
FORT COLLINS, Colo — A Fort Collins Police officer and another person were injured in an exchange of gunfire at a cemetery Sunday, the police department said. Police said around 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover at the intersection of Bryan Avenue and Mountain Avenue, near City Park. Police said "the driver exited the vehicle with a firearm and exchanged gunfire with officers, then ran toward Grandview Cemetery."
