Still driving my 1996 Accord LX V6. Changed timing gear assembly at 150,000. Oil changes every 4000 mi. Still runs like new... 👍

The D17A1 from the d17 series. Things I like about that engine. It uses multipoint fuel injection not direct injection. Which means no carbon build up on intake valves. The same can't be said for a direct injected engine it would need Walnut blasted by 40K miles. Things I don't like it has a timing belt not a chain for the overhead cam. I've never seen a belt make it past 100,000 Mi intact that's the far end of its lifespan. These engines are notorious for valve cover leaks. Other than that I'd say it's pretty solid if maintained. My preference would still be a K series engine. Specifically the K20C2 from the K20 line in the Civic today 2.0 L it's port injected with a timing chain. The problems they state with the water pump blockage doesn't surprise me. It's well beyond its life expectancy too if never replaced.
