ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) - Marcellus Williams has maintained since 1998 that he’s innocent of the murder of local newspaper reporter Felicia Gayle in a St. Louis suburb. Williams was convicted and received the death penalty in 2001. The original conviction hinged not on physical evidence but on the testimony of two witnesses. It wasn’t until 2015 that DNA testing of the murder weapon was allowed, and found a profile not matching that of Williams.
