Philadelphia Man Mauled to Death by Pitbulls in Tragic House Mix-up

    2023-12-10
    • Antonio Shaw, 63, was attacked by two pitbulls after mistakenly entering the wrong house in Philadelphia.
    • Shaw, non-verbal due to previous strokes, could not call for help during the attack.
    • He succumbed to his injuries two months later, following 15 surgeries.

Antonio Shaw, a 63-year-old man from Philadelphia, tragically lost his life following a horrific incident involving two pitbulls.

On October 4th, Shaw, who had become non-verbal due to a series of strokes, mistakenly went to a residence on North 62nd Street, West Philadelphia. There, he was brutally attacked by two of the five pitbulls present at the property. His inability to speak left him unable to call for assistance during the attack.

Sharese Jackson, Shaw's sister, described the dogs as "very vicious and hungry," saying they were "eating him like a piece of steak." The severity of the attack was compounded by Shaw's pre-existing health conditions. Despite being rushed to the hospital and undergoing 15 surgeries, Shaw passed away on December 4th. His sister, Michelle Shaw, recounted the desperate medical interventions, including a leg amputation due to the dog bites and subsequent infections.

Shaw, a father of three, was remembered fondly by his family as a wonderful person who deeply loved his children. The incident, which ended in the police fatally shooting one dog and animal control euthanizing the other, has not led to any charges against the homeowners as of now. Shaw's family is seeking financial assistance through a Gofundme campaign to cover funeral expenses, expressing their desire for a proper memorial for their beloved family member.
