    2023-12-20
    • Hunter Cameron Villasana, 17, is charged with manslaughter for killing a homeless woman in a drunk-driving incident in Houston.
    • Witnesses at the scene, fast food workers, prevented him from fleeing and reported he offered money via Venmo for his escape.
    • The victim, a white woman in her 50s, remains unidentified; Villasana is released on a $200,000 bond with strict conditions.

Hunter Cameron Villasana, a 17-year-old from Texas, faces charges of intoxication manslaughter after a tragic incident where he allegedly struck and killed a homeless woman while driving under the influence.

This event occurred in Houston, and Villasana appeared visibly shocked during his court appearance. According to reports, he attempted to flee the scene on foot but was stopped by fast food workers who witnessed the accident. These workers also claimed that Villasana offered them money through Venmo to let him escape.

The victim, a white woman in her 50s, was sleeping on a median when Villasana, reportedly speeding in his black Mercedes, lost control, hit a curb, and subsequently ran over her before crashing into a wall. Initially, Villasana allegedly lied to the police, claiming the woman was in the middle of the street.

Following his arrest, Villasana was charged with a second-degree felony. He has been released on a $200,000 bond, under conditions that include not driving and wearing a SCRAM device, an ankle monitor for alcohol detection. The prosecution highlighted the severity of drunk driving in Harris County and urged the public to avoid driving under the influence. Villasana is scheduled for a subsequent court appearance in February.
