Lawyer Accused of Poisoning Ex-Boyfriend's Relatives with Store-Bought Food

    2023-12-23
    • Brazilian lawyer Amanda Partata is accused of poisoning her ex-boyfriend's father and grandmother, leading to their deaths.
    • Security footage shows Partata purchasing food items, including a juice container, suspected to be laced with poison.
    • Partata was arrested after a psychiatric evaluation, following a suicide attempt, and is facing double homicide charges.

Amanda Partata, a 31-year-old lawyer from Brazil, is facing grave accusations of poisoning her ex-boyfriend's father and grandmother, resulting in their deaths.

The incident unfolded in Goiania, Brazil, where Partata was captured on a grocery store's security camera buying various food items, including cheese bread, cakes, biscuits, and juice. This purchase is believed to be pivotal in the alleged poisoning case.

The victims, police officer Leonardo Pereira, 58, and his mother Luzia Alves, 86, fell critically ill after consuming the food and succumbed to their conditions in a local hospital. The Goiás Civil Police, led by chief Carlos Alfama, are investigating the case, with suspicions that Partata might have poisoned the food either at her hotel room or at the victims' residence. The focus is particularly on the juice, as it could have easily dissolved the poison.

Partata, who had dated Pereira's son for about a month and a half, was arrested on Wednesday following her psychiatric evaluation. She had previously claimed to be pregnant, which has been disputed by medical documents. The police are exploring whether this pregnancy claim was a lie or if she suffered a miscarriage. Additionally, Partata reportedly harassed her ex-boyfriend and his family through threats sent from fake social media profiles and untraceable text messages. This complex case of alleged poisoning and harassment has shocked the local community and is still under thorough investigation.
